For a traditional cure for hives to be possible a diagnosis and reason or cause needs to be established.
However attempting to diagnose the root of chronic hives, otherwise referred to as chronic urticaria, is just about impossible which unfortunately makes the possibility of finding a traditional cure for hives unlikely
Hives can be caused by a number of possible factors which may be simple little things to deep rooted autoimmune disorders. Doctors today say rather than attempting to find the cause hives the best answer is solely to start treatment, but this is not a cure for hives although it might appear so at first or if you only suffer with acute hives attacks.
If you have suffered or are suffering with hives, the good news is that in many situations especially for those with acute hives the condition can often be controlled short term by using simple histamine blocking drugs known as antihistamine
Although not a cure for hives medicines like Benadryl, Zyrtec, Claritin, Singulair and Doxepin will counter the bodies’ reaction to the stimuli that has caused the hive symptoms. Usually, the drugs can be taken once the rash or itching begins to appear but in some chronic hives cases, a regular defensive dose of the medicine is often prescribed.
Unfortunately in my experience this is where antihistamine falls down, stops being a cure for hives & can actually worsen a chronic hives condition due to increased levels of toxicity stored in the body.
Your GP may work with you to try and find a possible cure for hives in your specific case or they may advise you on the right antihistamine to take or in a few cases may suggest a mix of the medicines.
Some chronic hive sufferers have reported getting some relief by taking a zyrtec tablet in the morning and a dose of doxepin before bed however any drug combination should be looked at by your doctor first.
Other Traditional Cures For Hives (Chronic Hives)
In cases of chronic hives a course of steroids is may be prescribed by your doctor. Prednisone or another corticosteroid will be prescribed by your GP to cut back the swelling and give you some relief from the itching.
A selection of hydro cortisone creams are also available that may be applied to the sore to bring some relief.
Critical cure for hives
A condition called Angioederma can in some cases emerge at the same time as chronic hives although angiederma is a condition in its own right it often appears and turns the wheels (rashes) in to large swelling which can cover the body but is more often associated with the head and face.
Angioederma is a form of anafalaxix which may rarely cause lack of breath and swelling of the airways, which untreated could lead to fatality. The only quick cure for hives or Angioederma in very severe cases is an injection of epinephrine.
If you fear you could be susceptible to such harsh reactions, ask your physician to prescribe an epi-pen you can carry in case of emergency.
There are a number of home-made treatments that profess to be a remedy for hives or at least offer some immediate relief from the itching.
