When the ugly and itchy red sores begin to appear hive sufferers know what’s ahead. Itching and burning that will drive anybody nuts. Since doctors can’t be sure what causes most instances of hives a cure for hives is often difficult for them to prescribe often the best they can offer is treatment to which might control some of the symptoms in the short term.
While a cure for hives does not really exist in the traditional sense acute hives can often be controlled by medication, many mistakenly believe the best cure for hives is some kind of antihistamine. Benadryl or an analogous product can reverse your body’s reaction to whatever allergen has caused your attack and while this is great in the short term it is really just a short term option and does little to help sufferers of chronic hives.
Ideally It’d be nice to work out if the trigger for a specific attack of hives was something you ate or some substance that you came in touch with, if this was possible then finding your own cure for hives might be possible simply by avoiding the specific allergen.
However the truth is you may potentially never know for certain what causes hives and therefore it is very difficult for anybody to find a cure for hives.
Many doctors now believe chronic hives is an autoimmune condition that can’t be diagnosed. This is why most doctors won’t even try and work out the cause or cure hives but just treat the reaction. As well as the medications available there are a number of creams that will offer some relief from the itching and burning.
Hydrocortisone is the important ingredient in many of them and will scale back the swelling related to the hive.
Home Made Cures For Hives
- Calamine lotion and Milk of Magnesia rubbed on the spot will work for some folks who can not find another way to stop the itch.
- Even cream of tarter made into a paste with water is claimed to offer some relief but unfortunately is not a cure for hives.
- The most simple cure for hives might be just applying a cold compresses to the inflamed area, of course this offers little help if you have a chronic condition or if the hives have spread over larger areas or to different areas of the body which can often happen.
Although this is not really a cure for hives a compress or a bit of ice on the spot will keep the hive from swelling further and should calm it down.
- Some folks find a cool shower or cool bath helps. Herbal, notably green tea is often considered the nearest thing to a natural cure for hives to those suffering with chronic hives.
- Chamomile tea is also good as it acts as sedative and can relieve the symptoms and could also help with the anxiety many sufferers may experience which may often trigger further hive outbreaks.
Not all of these cures for hives will work for everybody, so you’ll have to experiment and find what works for you.

I have had chronic urticaria for nearly 3 years now, nothing helps, thanks for your blog. I will be interested to read other peoples urticaria remadies
The writer of acureforhives.info has written a superior article. I got your point on hives remedies and there is nothing to argue about. As far as other hives treatments go you could also try adjusting your diet, I have found that by cutting out certain foods you can often reduce chronic hive symptoms.
I am very impressed with the article I have just read. I wish the writer of acureforhives.info can continue to provide so much useful information. chronic hives has also been a problem for me for some time and nothing seems to help. i hope if I keep reading this hives blog i will find a tretment for hives which works for me.

Sally have you heard of kate Andrews?. she came up with her own chronic hives treatment. The whole thing is based on treating the hidden reasons for chronic hives, it’s easy to follow and it works for me. You can read about it at http://www.urticaria-relief.com
Really good work, excellent blog. You should try kate andrews hives remedy. It’s called natural urticaria relief.
I’ve been following Kate’s advice for two months and my urticaria outbreaks are so much better.
thanks everyone for the advice, I got Kates urticaria treatment yesterday, it looks good plus the advice on testing was certainly an eye opener, never even considered this before. I’ll be starting with the urticaria treatment plan next week, so i will keep you updated.

I am reading this article for the second time today & decided to chip in,
Snoring, you asked about natural urticaria treatments..
Have you tried fasting, just drinking bottled water for a week at a time then gradually reintroducing small amounts of solid food. Fasting can be great as an urticaria treatment because it clears all the toxins out of the body. if you try this make sure you stick to bottled water as a lot of tap water contains traces of metal, which can meke urticaria worse.
Hey NOTamango, thanks for your urticaria treatment idea, sounds like you know what your talking about. is this a method that you have used as a urticaria treatment?. Plus i’m also intrested in why you have to drink bottled water instead of tap water. can tap water really make urticaria symptoms worse.
Please post, i’m really interested in this & I’ve been looking for a natural treatment for urticaria for a very long time.
Hi Annie
As a means of treating your chronic hives you can also go on a raw food diet, there lots of research on this. if you stick to raw foods your body gets time to recover from and disapate all the toxins. I’ve found this method works really well for controlling my chronic hives. You do have to go on the raw food diet every couple of months or the toxins will take hold again and you will start to see your urticaria symptoms again. Thats how it works for me anyway.
What is a raw food diet, how is it a good urticaria treatment. what do you have to eat to cure your urticaria?
There are lots of urticaria treatments, their effectivness depends on how bad your urticaria symptoms are. one of the best urticaria treatments is to chew on raw garlic cloves daily. garlic in it’s natural form kills harmful bacteria. unfortunatly you will smell of garlic, but it’s a great hives treatment and it’s free well apart from the garlic.
I apologise, but, in my opinion, you are mistaken. I have tried using clove of garlic as a chronic hive treatment but it didn’t work for me. by the way you can’t smell the garlic but everybody else can, not good.
I am the first time on this site and am really enthusiastic about all of the hives remedies, I will be trying them out and hope I will find a urticaria treatment that works. Thanks for so many good articles. I think it’s just very good.
Always yours Mr Clane
Smoking is bad for urticaria, not sure if smoking causes urticaria but I do know that it doesn’t help. my urticaria symptoms got a lot better when i stopped smoking.
Hi everyone
My urticaria symptoms got a lot worse while i was drinking red wine. After drinking red wine, the next day I would get lumps all over my head & urticarial wheals on my neck. It took a while for the urticaria and wine thing to connect. I looked into the connection between urticaria symptoms and red wine and found lots of people have this. It’s all to do with the sulphates in the wine. Not an urticaria treatment, but it might help if your urticaria symptoms get worseafter drinking red wine.

great blog thank you
Hi, I have also suffered with chronic urticaria for nearly 10 years, during some of the outbreaks the chronic urticaria turned into something called Angioedema. The angioedema i think is swelling deeper in the skin. When I had the angioedema my whole head and face swelled up like a balloon, it is quite scary as when it happens I don’t recognise myself when I look in the mirror. I have since tried the method mentioned & have not had any serious attacks for a couple of months, I still get the occasional lumps mainly around my hairline but they are far less frequant & I’m hoping if I keep going with Kate Andrews urticaria treatment they will completely stop.
Yes your right it does work, but it’s not a quick fix or magic urticaria cure, you have to keep with it. Great advice, well worth getting if you are having lots of urticaria attacks
I want to post quick hello and want to say appriciate for this good article.
